Advanced Tour

Who for? Those who want to push themselves and already have experience sport climbing.

We head east of the city to a spot called Garcilazo. Down in the valley looking back up at Sica Sica this place will test your skills and nerve. A 25m high good quality sandstone crag situated on a steep sided valley gives a real feeling of exposure. Ten fully bolted routes ranging from 5.8(USA) 5b (French) to 5.12b(USA) 7b(French) will fully test your skills. Long cracks, painful crimpers and a distinct lack of foot holds can all be looked forward to at Garcilazo. Previous experience essential, must be prepared to lead. (Tip: head down in the morning as this is west facing and gets extremely hot in the afternoons as there are no trees to give shade)

Range of grades: 5.8 (USA) 5b (French) to 5.12b (USA) 7b (French)

Our tours start by meeting by the lions at the Plaza 25 de Mayo (the main plaza in downtown Sucre) and looking for a guy with a t-shirt. We can meet at another location e.g. your hostel if everyone on the tour is staying in the same location. From there we take a short taxi ride to the location where we have a 10 minute walk to the crag. The tour lasts around 4 hours depending on how many are on the tour (though we might be persuaded to stay a little longer if you’re really nice and promise to buy us chocolate) and ends by us catching a taxi back downtown. We generally start a morning tour at 8am or an afternoon tour at 2pm but we are flexible.

What’s included:
